Denby

Denby designs dinnerware for real life

Renowned for its rich glazes, durable Denby dinnerware is made for the way you really live. Pick a pattern to match your lifestyle, from urban contemporary to simply classic.

Denby dinnerware ranges from the serene ocean-inspired Azure and Azure Coast, to the spicy Fire, Fire Chilli and Fire Stripes. A sleek, modern turn is represented by Jet, Jet Dots and Jet Stripes. If you prefer neutral tones, choose White and White Trace, or Caramel and Caramel Stripes. A nod to tradition is found in the patterns called The Classics which include Merlot, Imperial Blue, Linen, Regency Green, and Greenwich. For a clean and updated take on china, try China by Denby.

All Denby stoneware is the ultimate in durable tableware since it is microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe, so casseroles, serving, and baking dishes go effortlessly from oven to table. European Tableware is an authorized dealer of Denby and is happy to take special orders.

The Denby Story

Denby's history began in 1806, when a seam of clay was found at Denby during the construction of a road linking the industrial towns of Derbyshire, England. William Bourne, a local entrepreneur, examined the clay and recognized its exceptional qualities. Production of salt-glazed pottery was started at Denby in 1809 and William gave the onerous task of running the business to his youngest son, Joseph.

Known as 'Joseph Bourne' the pottery prospered and soon built up an international reputation for its quality bottles and jars. In the late 1800s, Denby Pottery diversified by extending its kitchenware range and developed richly colored glazes which were to become Denby's trade mark. In the 1950s, the pottery became predominantly a producer of tableware.

Denby continues to build on its proud heritage of quality and durability with its contemporary ranges such as Jet, Azure and Caramel, reflecting today's informal style.
